There are so many times in life when we think that life is not fair. Why it happens to me? Why I should be blamed? why I should be the victim of all the tortures and traumas? life can’t be more unfair to me. Enough is Enough! But have we ever thought that if everything is fair for us, every time you get whatever you want, then this world will become paradise for you. And there would be no test. As Allah mentions in Surah Mulk:
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving –
Our whole life and the ups and down of this life is not a mere joke. These circumstances were created to judge us to make us pure for the pure and perfect paradise. If we have don’t have ununsual circumstances then we don’t have the oppurtunity to do sabr. So if we don’t have sabr then we’ll be deprived of the reward of sabr. As it mention in Surah Luqman:
Chapter (31) sūrat luq’mān
O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination.
It is clear and evident that Sabr comes from consistency and courage. Undoubtfully, it is one of the highest code of conduct. Its reward is nothing but Paradise. So what do we think that we can enter in to the lush gardens without being tested or by snatching the fair share in each and every sphere of our lives. This life is not simple and paradise is not that cheap. We’ ll be facing numerous challenges in life which will shake us from head to toe. But when we face these trials, we become an easy mark of self pity and misery. Besides, every cell of our body screams the slogan ‘life is unfair to me’ but then how can we claim the highest reward. How can we deserve the place where according to Quran:
[To whom Allah will say], “O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,
Sahih International: Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted.”
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
We are the inheritors of pradise only if we act according to the expected criteria set by Quran and Sunnah.
These words ‘bima kuntum ta maloon.’ ‘What you used to do’ .These are the words of contemplation ‘What we used to do’.Therefore, the question is what we really used to do. We don’t do much expect complaining about the situation and self pitying thus losing the rewards and honors of Paradise. Remember you will get whatwever the soul desires. The unsatisfied thirst, the unfulfilled desires, the bleak bereavement, all will be vanished in our real destination of tranqulity and serenity.
Yes, life will create cruel climax sometimes, it will be drastically unfair,the reality won’t be dazzling and classy but the price will be paid in Paradise where you will get tashtahhetul nafs and talazzat ul aa’yun. It will be an ultimate ‘Ishaan’ from Allah (swt). Our meek deeds can’t make us the dwellers of that territory. Only it will be the Ihsaan of our “Rab” that will take us to the Paradise. Our Lord’s Ihsaan will come in the form of paradise. What a great fullfillment of one’s desires.
Is the reward for good [anything] but good.(55:60)
